McGill Schulich School of Music Admission Question

I auditioned for my M.M. in Performance at McGill about a month ago. A few days ago when I checked Minerva my application status said "Recommended by Department", now it says "Further Review Required".
I'm kind of panicked about the results of my auditions since I didn't actually apply to any "safe" schools.
Should I take the "Recommended by Department" as a good thing? If anyone else went through this process, how long did you wait before hearing the final decision?

I would definitely take the “Recommended by Department” as a good thing. The “further review required” is probably review by the universit of your academic qualifications. For an MM in performance, the audition is normally the bigger hurdle than the academic hurdle.

Minerva’s messages to applicants are a longstanding source of confusion (not just for music but for the whole university). I wouldn’t hesitate to call the Schulich school to ask when MM admissions will be finalized (they might give an unhelpful response, but it wouldn’t hurt). As well, if you have had much contact with your potential studio teacher, you could email her/him to ask.

When my son applied two years ago to the Schulich he received a text the day of his audition from his potential studio teacher congratulating him on receiving a large scholarship (which we took to mean he was in), so I don’t recall the official notification date, but I believe it was near the end of March prior to the major American conservatories’ notifications.
