Hi, I have been looking at McGill for my undergraduate degree, and on the website’s base financial aid page it gave an estimate of about 40,000 CAD comprehensive price, but on the financial aid calculator it estimated an international student’s total price to be around 20,000 CAD. I was wondering which is right (if either) and where I might get more information about this if possible? Thanks so much!
The $20K would be tuition + fees. The $40K would also include living expenses, if you are comparing the costs for the same program. Some programs, such as engineering will cost $40K for tuition + fees alone.
The most financial aid you would get would be full tuition, and that is extremely unlikely. There are no full rides in Canada.
As others have mentioned, the total cost at McGill will depend upon your major. Also of course if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or a citizen of France the cost is much lower. Also, there are other very good but not as well known universities in Canada (eg, Concordia, Dalhousie, Victoria, and many others) which are significantly less expensive than McGill for international students. The best known Canadian universities such as McGill, Toronto, and UBC can charge more perhaps due to their strong reputations.
