I have received a scholarship for $30 000 from the University of Calgary, and have been accepted to McGill without scholarship. McGill is obviously my first choice, but is the experience here that much better than Calgary's would be? That is, should I accept McGill and turn down so much money? Or is it not worth it? Please, help!!

I don't know about the university of Calgary itself, but most people I've known to go to Calgary didn't like the city... But that much money does sound really tempting too. It's a tough choice for sure.

No one can really answer that with any kind of certainty without you answering a few questions first.

What is your financial situation? How wealthy are you? Can you easily afford McGill by yourself/your parents?

What do you want to do after undergrad? Do you want to go to grad school and possibly spend MORE money there? Or do you plan to start working?

I could probably pay for half of my four years at McGill by myself... the rest wouold have to be loans.

After undergrad I plan to go to medical school and obviously spend more money.

anyone have any advice?

if mcgill is your top choice and money isn't a matter- then go to mcgill! plus you'd be giving up scholarship money to other kids who really want to attend calgary. g'luck!

i really dont know if you would find whole the mcgill experience is worth $30,000

but i certainly found it priceless....

but yeh...if u can actaully afford to pay and you dont mind giving up $30 000 then come to mcgill
