you must decide what is the best fit. It is really important to visit the university to get a feel for it. I live in Montreal. I found that on Mcgill campus English is the dominant language.
(compared to the rest of the city)

what about for business, specifically if you land a wall street type of job?

Which one has the better Physics program?

On a similar note, which Canadian university, in your opinion, has the best Physics program?

uft or perhaps waterloo

mcgill isn't bad either

sort of a pointless thread

here is my 2 cents

UofT is more challenging academically..as much harder to get good grades, they try to weed ppl out in first year. Toronto has much better resources and facilities than McGill for sure and probably better research going on there. Having said that, their entrance average is around 70-75%, which is awefully low. McGill has an entrance average of 90%, the next best is Queen's 89% I think. Entrance averages and how competative the admissions give you a pretty good indication of what students in canada think of the school. Most who finish at the top of their class go to McGill or Queens. The engineering program in UofT is supposed to be one of the best and in other departments, whatever differences there might exist are marginal, they are both the state funded school...

Anyway UofT has an amazing grad school, but for undergrad go somewhere you will enjoy the 4 years of your life.

I go to McGill and having the best time of my life. My friends in UofT and can't really say too many positive things about their univerisity experiences, they still hang on to the high school memories.

You shouldn't even consider UofT if you want any social life in college. First of all the whole dorm experience is pretty lame in UofT because they mix upper years with first years, so the residences are really anti-social and you will find it hard to make friends and socialize in first year. Secondly, drinking age in toronto is 19, your first year is gonna suck. Thirdly, nightlife in toronto sucks compared to montreal. Most people in UofT commute (close to 90%)...McGill the figure is much lower around 30-35%...everyone i know lives around the McGill Ghetto or closeby.

I admit McGill isnt better than UofT academically, cause its underfunded by the stupid quebec govt. I think the McGill Business Program is much better though, the UofT program is not offered by the Rotman, but by their arts and sciences faculty..

I would compare Queen's and McGill, much better comparison.

And McGill is supposed to have the best lookin girls too...

Although i do believe Toronto is tougher academically, could it be that maybe it gets a rep for that because the kids that go there arent has smart as McGill students (when comparing highschools grades)?

But yeah, i think u r probably right about toronto. That is what i hear.

I mean i would rather go to McGill over toronto (just have to get in first) because it just seems more fun, and such a great city...not to mention that the girls are supposed to be beautiful.
