Any insiders care to share the criteria for selection?
How common/ uncommon is being awarded one for international students?
Do there still exist flyout interviews for candidates, are these the main deciding factor (amongst the competitive candidates)?
And is it really true that you are more likely to be considered if you apply RD as opposed to ED; are these actually tools by which to lure HYPS / Oxbridge caliber candidates (and therefore would be wasted with ED applicants)?
Thank you!
I’m sure the admission office will gladly talk you through these questions. They’re pretty accesible.
Thank you - have done. I just wanted to hear some “insider”/ applicant advice or opinions.
Thought my son was a shoo-in for merit aid. 4.0 unweighted at a top private school, 35 act one sitting, and a very highly recruited athlete. He didn’t receive merit money but his roommate did with significantly lower stats. So it is hard to know what they base their criteria on.
For future reference only—I got the McKenna Award (worth $15000 per year) as an international interview. No interview of anything else was involved, but I did submit my app before the Dec 1st deadline. I got notified of admission + scholarship in the same letter, so no early notification of any sorts.
