Hi, I applied regular decision by December 1.
SAT=2370/1570
SATII=770USH,740Math2,740Spanish
Grades=top10/250, competitive private school.
Varsity Athelete.
Good overall extracurriculars-service, leadership, music, job, etc.
Good, polished essays.
Great teacher recs.
I also had an interview that went well.

Is it possible that I have a good shot at the McKenna achievement award?
Thanks!

Oh and AP Scholar with Distinction, hardest classes, etc. etc.

You definitely have a good shot. Though if you are selected as a finalist, it will come down to your interview (I think they fly you down to CMC to conduct an interview). Best of luck.

I hear that grades and scores don’t make the achievement scholars, that it is largely the extra curricular activities that involve leadership and fearlessness(instead of joining a club, start one with your own money or something).

I’m hoping to get the achievement award as well, and when I asked about it they said it honestly goes down to how impressive that extra page(ECs, Essays, ect) is that they review when you are in.
