I just sent my application and honors application in. I put a lot of effort and time into my essays. I dont think I will be accepted to the Honors College because of my stats GPA 4.2 ACT 31 but I wanted to give it a shot. I am also hoping it will help me get the McKissick scholarship because I am OOS. If I dont get into the honors college can I still be awarded the McKissick scholarship?

Yes, it is based on your stats not honors admission and yours are definitely in the ballpark based on 2011 numbers. Look under admissions site and click on money matters which has all the scholarship/money info.

Did you figure your GPA with or without your Gym/ Electives and how many honors/ap
courses did you take and what was you unweighted GPA. You may have a higher GPA then you think.

kearbear I did not think about that. I have gotten all A’s throughout high school so dropping my A’s in PE and electives might actually help me. When they calculate GPA do they give extra credit for honor classes? At my high school you get extra credit for AP classes but not for honors.

I’ll Private Message You

Does SC publish anywhere how they recalculate GPA? I couldn’t find anything on the web site.

Or do they just use whatever is on the transcript?

I couldn’t see anything on admissions website to indicate they re-calculate. I would check with admissions for a final answer to that type of question.
