so i call them for check on app.. and after trying to fix my SAT score that they had in their database (1150-1300) they're like "i doesnt matter u failed"
supposedly they require minimum 580verbal and i am 560v and 740m..

i cant find anywhere on their website that says 580 is minimum.

confused.. btw i applied to mcgill, uft, queens, UBC, waterloo, and already got accepted to acadia

If you are from a US high school, McGill required a SAT-v minimum of 620 and a SAT-II Writing score of 610 for last year's admissions to all programs. See:

This year's minimums might be different at McGill.

Queen's brochure for "Applicants from the United States" says you must have a 520 SAT-m and 580 SAT-v minimum to apply from the US. You should have a copy of that brochure in your "Applicant's Package" that was mailed out when they received your on line application.

this is why I personally think it's in the students favour to take the ACT, if applying to canuck schools---because at least right now, they consider your cumulative score, allowing you to mask weak areas (IE, get a really strong math and a really weak english, it'll balance out into an OK score). the SAT they do care about the subscores.

I did a quick search for SAT scores on the McMaster website and easily found this:

"Effective for September 2005 entry, applicants from the United States of America must present results from the SAT 1 with a minimum combined score of 1200 (minimum 580 verbal, 520 mathematics) or from ACT with a minimum composite score of 27."

At the same time, on their normal admission's website the said :

"Requirements
Grade 12 in an accredited high school. (SAT scores are reviewed on a selective basis only and are generally not required)."

Don't know what's up with that, but I suggest you argue, and get a print out of the page asap to prove your point.

show up and threaten to catapult flaming chickens into their administration office unless they fix contradictions in their applications....

okay maybe not ;) I'd call and ask politely what their policy is. Perhaps state that you read on the website that SAT scores were only considered for applicants in the even that GPA was borderline. If they confirm that and say that that indeed is their policy, then raise the issue of the conversation you had. It could be that that person was in error. Or, they could say "No, our policy is that US students must have SAT scores of....inserts scores. In which case you politely ask where this info is on the website and why it says otherwise on the international applicant section.

just be nice, polite, and organized. I hope this gets resolved for you!
