2 keys to stacking:Lieber is only for NMF’s and thats kind of rare but well rewarded…another is to persue the departmental scholarships…dig dig dig on the departments info pages and the pages of the College the dept is part of…and if not enough info contact the dept directly about whats a/v.once you have an acceptance they will be glad to speak to you…everyone is friendly there.S’s dept was Sports Management in the College of HRSM and required a seperate application but well worth it.

Will they send out McNair invitations this weekend or next?

We just had a scholars meeting and the way the admissions rep worded it was something along the lines of : ‘we hope to have the invites sent out by the end of the month.’ I’d assume that could be either weekend, but I am thinking more likely next. It would for sure be received on a Friday/Saturday though.

Last year, the McNair Packets arrived on the last Saturday in January. They came FedEx.

Tomorrow is the last Saturday in January.

Has anyone heard anything???

Nope…FedEx just literally drove by my house

Maybe its not today then?

I don’t really know, but last year the last weekend of January was 3 weeks after classes started…it’s only been 2 this year. If no one has heard then maybe next weekend. But FYI for planning…Carolina Scholar weekend is Feb 23/24 and McNair is March 2/3 so you might want to keep those weekends clear.

I’m hoping since no one has posted an invite letter received that there is still a possibility?? It seems like USC had quite a number of candidates apply this year…anxiously waiting.

I am also waiting on the golden package. If anyone gets it in the near future, keep us posted. Thanks!

We have a family event to plan, so I broke down I called admissions today to find out the notification schedule. The rep apologized for the lateness compared to previous years. One reason is there are 5000 more applicants in total this year to USC than last. Secondly, the overall quality of those applying to honors is greater which led to more time needed to evaluate the scholarship weekend invitees. She believes the notifications are “starting to go out” and invitees can be notified up to February 15. Invitees will be given a choice of dates to come to Columbia for an interview and whatever else goes on. The only advice she could give was to be patient. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting this information. That seems like a big increase in applicants! We’re trying brace ourselves for the statistical likelihood that d will not get an invitation, but it’s hard not to hope… Good luck to everyone waiting.

My S received the McNair FedEx today! Super Excited!
