Which would you think would land me a reservoir job? Do they prefer to hire ME over ChemE or the other way around?

I am interested in also being able to use my engineering degree to solve problems such as building things for self interest or designing new products.

Dude why is this same question coming up all the time in the oil and gas sector in vast majority of the companies a mechanical engineering degree is the second most preferred degree. petroleum engineering degree is slightly favored especially if we are talking reservoir engineering position. if a company a is trying to hire a reservoir, production, drilling and completion engineer a PETROL and MECHANICAL guys will be heavily favored though A CHEMICAL engineering guys will be considered but they will always be playing second fiddle to petrol and mechanical guys. folks with a chemical engineering degree are generally hired as a process engineer in the downstream sector.
