<p>What is the most common meal plan that Freshman choose? What would you recommend for an incoming student?</p>
<p>Gold 19 (in answer to both questions). Its 3 meals a day on weekdays and 2 on the weekends. Some do the 14 if they know they will never get up for breakfast (which leaves you high and dry during exam time - no energizing early morning meal) and a few do unlimited but from what I’ve heard its quite unnecessary.</p>
<p>They’re all pretty equal when you consider them, but whatever you do, do NOT get the unlimited plan. I had a friend who had it and quickly found out he wasted his money.</p>
<p>Get the unlimited, so your upperclassmen friends without meal plans can leech off you.</p>

<p>And I have no idea what my schedule will be, or what W&M will have that I want to eat. I just need to make sure I can get what I want, when, and how many times I want it.</p>
<p>The unlimited really is overkill. You can always get breakfast with the Gold 19. And you realize that with any meal plan you can get food as many times as you want it? It’s buffet style, so you can keep going back over and over again if they have something that you like that day or are really hungry.</p>
<p>The unlimited is only worth it if you have a sibling at W&M and you guys actually coordinate it so you can get meals at the same time.</p>
<p>I had an unlimited plan so I could “stop in a get a drink” or something whenever I wanted… yea, didn’t happen at all. I went down to the 14 because I never ate breakfast.</p>
<p>If you want breakfast once or twice during exams when you have the 830 slot, you can always use flex dollars.</p>
<p>You can always alter your meal plan for second semester if you find you had too few or too many meals first semester</p>
<p>If you’re an athlete, get the 19. Anyone else, get the 14 as you’ll be too busy studying and sleeping and not wanting to trek to eat cafeteria food 3Xday. The food leaves much to be desired. Not enough whole plain healthy foods. It would be nice to have plain roasted or grilled veggies, baked/grilled simply cooked meats without fried/cheese/flour/oil/breaded coatings on everything. Salad is the only viable unprocessed whole food option alot of the time.</p>

<p>You have a while to alter your plan, too. I had the unlimited freshman year but realized I wasn’t using it, so I dropped it to the 14 or 19 within a week or two and just got the balance refunded as Flex Points (I’m not sure if you can get a cash refund or only Flex Points). It’s free to change for a few weeks, and I think after that you have to pay a change fee of maybe $25-50 but it can still be done throughout the semester.</p>
