Hi, I'm trying to decide which meal plan to choose.

I think I'm going to be going home every other weekend, so should I choose the 14 or 19 meal plan?

Also, if I don't use all of my meal plans do they transfer over to the next week?

& Are there other places to eat that don't require a meal plan card? I saw a panda express and such when I visited, but I don't know if that is a part of the meal plan or separate.

I would say that you should get the 14 meal plan… And on the weekends where you don’t go home, just eat at other places. Because on the weeks that you go home, you’ll only be at school for… 5 days. and even if you eat 3 meals all of those 5 days, that’ll only be 15 meals. And you’ll waste 4 meals if you’re on the 19 meal plan.

Leftovers meals don’t transfer to the next week. All the meals you don’t use by the end of the week are ‘discarded.’

Only the dining common meals count towards your 14 or 19 meal plan. All the other places like Jamba Juice or Panda Express… don’t count. So you pay separately for those. But, you can activate your ACCESS id card into a debit card too. After you load money onto your card, you can use that at all the eateries on campus and the bookstore, post office, etc.

Well shinydiscoballs, it depends on what you want to do!

Are you staying in a residence hall? If so, you email mealplanchanges@housing.ucsb.edu from your Umail account and tell them your full name, perm number, current meal plan, and requested meal plan.

However, if you want to lower your meal plan, you can only do that twice a year, and it will take place the NEXT quarter, but since fall hasn’t started yet, I don’t know if you can change it for fall… try!!! If you want to upgrade your meal plan, you can do that any time, and it will go into affect the next school week…
