Mean Girls-> accurate depiction of hs life?

What do you guys think of the movie Mean Girls, and does every school have the "Plastics" group?

I watched that movie, and as funny as it was, I couldn't help but feel really uncomfortable.

I mean, obviously that movie represented the absolute extreme, but I know girls who are SO NICE that you know there's something going on, something fake about them.

My school definitely does. Watching the scene in the cafeteria in which that girl noted each specific group of people who inhabited each table, be it the cool asians or the dorks or whatever, was so familiar to me that it was almost scary.

I'd venture to say that a lot of schools have their own versions of "the Plastics," but, unlike in the movie, nobody else really cares about impressing them anymore. They're the girls that everyone wanted to impress in, say, the sixth grade, but by the time high school comes around, no one else outside their social group really dreams anymore about being their bff (wow.. haven't used that in a while).

I think there were definitely some truths in the movie, but it's a long way off from my high school (thankfully). It seems to be more Tina Fey's impression of high school in 2004 than the real high school in 2004. That doesn't take away from the wittiness of the script, though.

Ever since seeing the movie a month or so ago, I find myself wanting to say, "Boo, you who*e" (is that word allowed?.. dunno, I'm not risking it) whenever someone irks me. And, for some reason, the Kevin G. character was hilarious to me.

ummm my entire school is plastic (with more than 40 girls in my senior class with nose jobs) but no one is mean. everyone is really nice to each other. i dont get why movies always depict high school with "bullies" and "rude people" cuz thats not true at my school nor most schools i know of

definitely not at my school

deff at my school.... but yet the people at my school are white trash so yeah... it's expected shudders

My schools not like this at all. I think no one looks that way at age 16/17, after all the actresses playing the lead roles are all in their 20s... It's not fair for girls to look at them and say "wow I wish I looked like they do". Its a hilarious movie though, people at my school are joking about doing jingle bell rock for the lip sync concert!
Michele

Definitely not at my school (since it's an all-male school) =)

They should make plastic surgery fluorescent under a dark light.

I really liked Mean Girls! So true in so many ways! It captures the feeling of what it's like to be in high school pretty perfectly

The movie definately reminded me of my high school:
*girls who don't eat and girls who eat their poblems away
*burn book (only at my school they put both guys and girls into it)
*teacher who likes underage Asian girls
*Indian guy who thinks he's a rapper
*Principal in way over his head
*weird talent show acts

HA, I love Mean Girls!! But no, I don't think my school's like that.

mean girls was based in part on the girls from the spence school in nyc. all girls school though. theyre awesome, but monsters.

i actually LOVED this movie because it was so accurate, although quite satirical, and because of the tina fey humor...

esp that cafeteria map...man...couldnt be more accurate...

though at my school, our plastics group is just kind of another group of kids...our plastics dont really dominate the school scene as much as the mean girls plastics..

my school has 2,000, so cliques don't matter like they did in middle school (700 students). Most people are cool with everyone else. And there really aren't any "plastics"

mine's not like that at all...pretty much everyone gets along, sure there are the extreme losers or the extreme gorgeous people but even they'll act like acqaintances with each other when in class

no one at my school can afford to be "plastics"

my school has no girls. so no plastics.

the different cliques are true at my school but not to that extreme and the whole 'plastics' thing about being queen bee would have been very true for 7th or 8th grade, but by junior year most people at my school know they exist and really don't care as much as they used to say in middle school.

haaah... My school has plastics. And they're spectacular.
