Mechanical Engineering over there. . .

a lot of people at my school got into berkeley, but im pretty sure they werent goin into M.E., which is hoverin around 3rd or 4th in the nation rite now (according to us news, yeah yeah dont trust it, but they arent some random persons rankings)

wat i want to know is, what extra things are they lookin for in an applicant to ME, b/c they obviously dont look at the same things in an ME applicant as they do in a marine bio applicant.

OR, if neone on this forum is an ME major at berkeley and applied w/ that in mind, what were their stats and stuff, so i know where im, and so other people know where they're, at (hopefully will save a hundred more threads sayin "wat are my chances")

any other random knowledge that mite help is also welcomed, thanks people this site is awesome btw

in-state, female, 33 ACT (?), 800 MathIIC, 760 Writing, something really crappy in either chem or physics. 4.0/4.4-ish. yearbook editor, 'team america rocketry challenge (?)', science fair stuff (got into state but didn't go), several bands, worked part-time, etc. people liked my essays (socio-economic/family/first generation issues). they say to talk about why you want to be an engineer, but, uhh, our english teacher made us write the essays before i looked at the application and i was too attached to what i had already written.

honestly, i have no idea what the college of engineering looks for. my friends and i have never really talked about it, but it seems like everybody essentially had a 1400+ SAT (err, it's out of 2400 now?) and some science-y activities.

cool, maybe i should open this up to ANY engineering major, cuz berkeley is generally good in all engineering, not only mechanical (from what i hear)
