What kind of jobs would prefer a design engineering major rather than a mechanical engineering major, or vice versa?
What is “design engineering”?

Engineers of all stripes design. It is not a major offered at Olin, but certainly their grads are versed in design.
I don’t know what to tell you because this is not a major field of study offered at many schools. It’s an ambiguous title and won’t be familiar to many recruiters, who will be much more familiar with the more typical engineering fields. I am not familiar with any program in design engineering, and I feel I am relatively familiar with a lot of programs nationwide.
