is there a list of the top 50 (100, 150, the more the better) colleges that have the highest rate of acceptance for kids getting into med schools... please i'm just looking for a list do not post something like "John Hopkins, Harvard, and [insert random top university] all have great acceptance rates for med school applicants"

i know this i'm looking for shools that aren't so obvious... so the more extensive the list the easier it is for me to accomplish this goal.

thank you.

I think all of the acceptance rates are low, because the stakes are much higher becoming a doctor. Anyways University of Washinton is ranked #1 in the country for medical school. However it is very hard to get in if you don't live in WA,AK,MT,ID or WY.

Here is some links

Whoops kinde of misread your post, but here arte the med schools anyways.

For the top 2 schools according to U.S. news both have around 7% acceptance rates

I believe there is a list somewhere on the forums. You'll have to search it because i don't remember where it is. I think it was a from business week or some other national magazine. A word of caution however, b/c high acceptance rates into med school may not be entirely b/c of the quality of the pre-med program but b/c the colleges screen their med school applicants only allowing those they think will get into med school to actually apply. I pretty sure JHU does this along with other colleges.

W&M has a 80%+ accept rate. But the accept rate to med school for any college is to ANY Med school. Either way, even the worst med school is really good. Why? Because you don't want a doctor who doesn't know what the **** he's doing!

"What do you call someone who graduates at the bottom of their class in the worst medical school in the country? A doctor."

I'm sure you've all heard that one, but it's true.

there isn't much discrepancy between the best med school and the worst med school in america. there's only 125 of them and admission to even the "worst" one is a huge accomplishment.

agree nodnard. how many of you actually know what med school your doctors went to?

You're about to fall into the trap a lot of smaller schools have set. Many private schools are scrambling for students to pay full tuition, and one way they can attract students is by having an amazingly high med school admission rate. Kids see the rate (often 90% or more) and fall into the trap of thinking that'll be their chances if they go there premed.

Med schools require what is called a "committee letter" from your college which summarizes your classes and recommendations. The trick to get a high admission rate is just to write the letter for the best candidates, or write letters for everyone but tell weaker candidates they'll be unable to recommend them in the letter. This really happens, and either way you're hosed. See the FAQ at http://www.providence.edu/Premed/FAQ/ for an example of a school that does the latter.

interesting... thanks for the link...
