Can I take the med school pre-req’s without being in the College of Science, or having a pre-health supplementary major?
@YeisYeezus Notre Dame has very knowledgeable Pre-Med Advisors who will be able to answer any questions you have and support you accordingly: https://firstyear.nd.edu/advising/schedule-an-appointment/
While the link is to First-Year of Studies, folks there will be most glad to help you as transfer student as well.
You can! If you wish to major in Arts and Letters college, they have a pre-med option as well. That is, you are, let’s say a political science major and do the pre-med requirements. The Engineering major has many similar classes, so it’s just about getting the biology requirements in. Architecture and Business colleges are harder to combine with the pre-med classes because of their requirements, so you may have to talk to their advisors and the pre-med advisors. For medical school, you need the pre-reqs but do not have to be a science major - in fact, they often prefer candidates with other majors. I was working on a PhD in political science when I decided to go to medical school and the interviewers loved it! Also, you can always take the pre-reqs for medical school at a local state school in the summer, and enjoy your major at ND.
