<p>Not only does the US News give matriculated stats (which are generally lower), it's also a couple of years behind (hence the numbers were taken from less competitive cycles). Also, US News uses means instead of medians.</p>
<p>So, the end result is that the US News is likely to give numbers that are 2 pts. or so smaller. For example, Northwestern reports a matriculated average of 3.7, 34.2 while the MSAR reports an accepted average of 3.8, 37. I suspect that for the top top schools, there's probably not much of a difference b/w matriculated and accepted stats.</p>
<p>Eh, it might not be perfect...but gives a general idea. I can't imagine there's a dramatic difference. I was only looking to compare the relative competitiveness of schools on my list. But thanks for letting me know the real stats are a bit higher.</p>
