Med school versus optometry school

Is Med school really that much harder than optometry school? Like what are the differences in terms of the amount of studying and competition?

worlds apart, even more different will be the life you lead after finishing school. i think that your first decision is what you would like to become. there are differences in liefestyle, responsibility level, independence level, salary and other things as well.

the amount of sacrifice involved will be very different. there are opticians, optometrists, and md opthalmolmogists and each one is very different.

Contact the optometry school where you would like to go and ask them about the cut off for things like grade point average. Then call a medical school you might consider and ask them for the same thing. If you have taken the prerequisites for optometry school then look for a free optometry admission test on-line and take it. That may help you decide.

Let’s see. Optometry school: mostly learning about the eye, diseases, and related health issues. Med school: learning about the entire body, diseases, health issues for the entire body, etc, etc, etc,. Common sense would lead me to think optometry would be easier. Unless you hate eyes and squirm dealing with them…

A person can become an Ophthalmologist once becoming a Doctor

a person can not become an Opthalmologist unless they become a Doctor

Optometrists also don’t even deal with all eye diseases like an opthamologist would.

In med school, you have to learn about the systems of the ENTIRE body (vs just the eye)
