Med School w/o taking the MCATs?

Is it possible? I alway feel that a standardized test does not show my true potential.

So, getting back to the OP's question, even if we leave aside those special combined Bs/MD programs, some med-schools do not require the MCAT (although they usually prefer seeing them), so yes, in theory, you could get into med-school without ever taking the MCAT.

Here's what Dartmouth Medical had to say about it:

"Students who choose not to submit MCAT scores will be at a disadvantage in our highly competitive admissions process."

<a href="http://dms.dartmouth.edu/admissions/costs.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://dms.dartmouth.edu/admissions/costs.shtml</a></p>

So you ask the question of whether it's possible to get into med-school without taking the MCAT. And to that, I would say that yes, it is possible. It's highly unlikely. Why? Because you would have to only apply to those particular med-schools that don't take MCAT's and hope to get into one of them, as opposed to being able to cast a wider net. But, yes, it is possible.

As Sakky has said, there are a few med schools that don't require MCAT's. I would hope that someone who chooses not to take the MCAT's would be at a disadvantage. The MCAT is a lot of no-fun so the people who suffer through the months of studying, agonizing, and stressing over it should be rewarded over people who choose not to go through that.
