Media School Scholarships - Ernie Pyle, Freshman

Hello. Couple of questions about merit scholarships from the Media School, for incoming freshmen.

Ernie Pyle Scholars - what is the dollar value of these scholarships?

Freshman Scholarships in the Media School: The criteria are clear, but what is the average dollar value, and if there is a range, what qualifies an applicant for the high end?

Presumably the Freshman Scholarships cannot be stacked with the Ernie Pyle?

Thanks in advance.

Ernie Pyle Scholars is an Honors Program. I don’t know that there is a monetary scholarship attached to the program. There are other benefits and opportunities as a Scholar. Very few students are selected each year. The Freshman Scholarships in the Media school are based upon the SSA. The criteria listed are the minimum. Given that the Media School is only a year old, not much information is available on scholarship amounts. It will vary, but typically higher scholarship amounts are given to those that have higher scores, etc. FYI–Although the Media School is only a year old, IU has a LONG tradition of excellence in journalism. The Media School was created, with a lot of controversy, by combining the former School of Journalism with a few COAS departments. It makes sense on paper, but many were concerned about losing the School of Journalism given it’s history at IU.

IU does permit stacking of some scholarships. For example, my now graduated son received an IU Achievement Scholarship and a Direct Admit Scholarship. My graduated daughter combined a Hutton Honors scholarship and an IU Achievement Scholarship. Some exceptions exist to the stacking when a scholarship covers full tuition and room/board. IU will award the highest scholarship amount received when stacking is not permitted.

Thank you @rrah ! Now it all makes sense. Hope your grads are doing well.
