Medical conditions managed at BS

I've noticed that most schools have at least a nurse on duty for daytime hours and a doctor on call...

Has anyone sent their child to boarding school with a pre-existing medical condition that required daily medication and more frequent doctor visits... like a diabetic child for example?

Or does having a medical condition equal no chance at all -ever.

:)
Thanks.

Wintermoon, Just sent you a private message.

I am also interested. My son was just accepted into Exeter- but has a sisiter a year younger with type 1 diabetes and she would love to join him next year. Not sure how comfortable I or the school will be.

All the schools will have a nurse that can assist kids with daily meds…

I can only speak to SPS but I know there are students there with daily meds including diabetics. They have a full health center with 24/7 nurses and their own dedicated MD.

I believe other well-endowed schools have same or similar. You can usually find info on the health centers on the school websites and I wouldn’t hesitate to call the schools directly.

While school is in session, St. Mark’s School’s Health Services is open 24/7. There is always a nurse on duty.

Choate has a full time doctor who lives on campus, and an infirmary staffed 24/7.

Yes, I have heard very comforting things about Choate’s medical staff.
