What are the best medical related ECs one can do in high school and how would you get them (besides volunteering)?

For example, how would you get started with a shadowing or research position?

Volunteering at a hospital or similar is likely the only thing you can get as a high school student. You’re not likely going to get a research position, and shadowing is probably likely only through a family friend. Many doctors are reluctant to let even college students shadow.

But you shouldn’t be worried about getting such ECs in high school - you can’t put them on med school apps. Just try to get some exposure to medicine.

i think he means for applying to an Undergrad premed program - I would say some of the more “sophisticated” and “classy” ECs that demonstrate your maturity and what not. For example, Latin Honor Society you can join nationwide if you take latin and have a grade higher than B+ I believe (they probably have one for every language i just know of that one). Student Ambassaders, American Red Cross Club - stuff like that

All ECs help in the college admission process but ones like those really stick out because they show you’ll be a positive member of their community

Definitely wouldn’t call those “sophisticated” or “classy” or better than any other EC.
