Medical Internship?

I am currently in an internship and I feel like what I mostly do is watch and observe (which is the main idea) but I want to know if anybody has any ideas for work I could do as well during this?

If your internship doesn’t allow you to do anything, then there’s not much you can do about that. You would have to find work outside of your internship time. Where are you at in school?

Rising Junior in high school

Volunteering would be an option if you live near a hospital or something that has that type of program. If you volunteered you could get more contact and interaction with visitors and patients depending on what department you volunteer in.

^ yeah hospital volunteering is about as close to doing anything in a healthcare setting as you’re going to get in high school. But you really shouldn’t be worried about that so early - just focus on observing various physicians and learning and trying to figure out if medicine is right for you.

To be honest, as a high schooler, you’re really not going to be able to do much actual work. Be happy that you have the chance to observe, it’s a worthwhile experience and can help you decide if being a doctor is really right for you. If you volunteer at a hospital (instead of an internship) you’ll do work, but it will be administrative based, because obviously they can’t allow you to have the same sort of experience a medical student would have, because you’re not qualified to do that yet.
