Medical school?

Hello,

I am a senior high school student, and I am vEEEry interested in Brown University, particularly in Alpert Medical school.

I heard something like 'If you get in Brown to be a doctor, you are ensured to get in medical school". how true is this?

I think you’re talking about the PLME program. You can see more information about it here:
[Program in Liberal Medical Education | Program in Liberal Medical Education](<a href=“Program in Liberal Medical Education | Medical School | Brown University”>Program in Liberal Medical Education | Medical School | Brown University)

If you’re talking about normal pre-med students at Brown, than that statement is entirely false. Though Brown has a high med school acceptance rate, you are definitely not assured to get into a medical school after attending Brown.

Did somebody say pre-med at Brown? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/1284648-brown-best-place-pre-med.html</a></p>

Oh yeah Bruno14 that was what I am talking about!

the PLME program has a separate and highly competitive admissions process. Please research fully and carefully. good luck

well, separate committee but still pretty much the same process

If you get into PLME, then sure you’re guaranteed a seat in a great med school. But getting into the program is harder than any undergrad school in the nation.

All top 30-50 universities offer an excellent pre-med education. What makes Brown “better” for pre-meds is it’s grading system. You can be a below average student at Brown and have a 3.60 GPA which will get you into med school. The most important aspect of a pre-med education is to help you get accepted into med. school. Avoid grade deflation schools like the plague.

^ My rebuttal to the above post is that Princeton, which is known for great deflation, has a very high rate of acceptance of its students to medical school.
