Medical situations at sea

I believe this has come up before, and I'm sure it will again, but just a quick story regarding a medical situation while at sea:

My son had what turned out to be a minor illness at sea (actually it was in Honolulu) and he required medical attention. The company (Matson) didn't want to take any chances, so they did what was necessary. The whole time I was wondering about the medical insurance portion - not sure if he was covered by me or the ship or the school...still a bit confusing.

Anyway, today I received the statement (not bill) from the hospital showing that the covereage was complete from the company. Pretty nice, considering the total charge was over $3000!

Just FYI - Is2Day is fine. They weren't sure of the exact problem, but they pointed to dehydration, etc. He's headed back to Long Beach from Shanghai right now and will be getting off the ship in Hono - then headed back to KP for the final term. Hard to believe the first sea adventure is coming to a close.

I bet it was that 'dog jerky' he was threatening to buy.
You send him back .. we'll make sure to fill him with Vienna Sausages & Twizzlers. He'll be back to fighting strength in no time.

Vienna sausages -- my cardiologist believes EVERYONE should eat them...(but then again, I just think he's drumming up business).

Seriously, glad to hear your son's doing ok.

oh jeez zonk...
you know me too well
hahaha

Glad you are okay.

We missed you, looking forward to having you back to KP.

I'm looking forward to having him here for a few days...Get ready boy - he he he
