Hey everyone! I'm a junior in high school and I'm starting to look around at schools. I plan on doing pre-med, which probably means majoring in Biology. I'd also like to minor in Government since that is also an interest of mine. Academically, I'm 2nd in my class and I will have taken 5 AP's by the end of my senior year (Bio sophomore year, US history and English junior year, and Calculus and Chemistry senior year). Outside of school I do a lot of community service.

I have a few questions...

What schools have good med-programs? I'd like to stay close to the East coast...DC and Virginia are about as far West/South as I'll go.

I love Georgetown. What do you think about it as a pre-med school?

What advice do you have for having a competative application to the schools that are harder to get into?

Johns Hopkins come to mind for your criteria.

I do, too. It’s an excellent place for both med-school and undergrad.

Your SATs and grades are not too different from the other applicants, although the higher the better; the essays, ECs, and recommendations let admissions officers tell you apart from the others. Your past grades are set in stone, and everything else is still under your control. Put your energy into what you can still control at this point.

My advice is when a school offers a unique program in an area of interest, you make a strong case for why you are a great candidate for that program.
