basically my scores on my sat and subject tests scores are ok in some opinions, but horrible in most.
SAT: CR 660 M 660 W 710
SAT II: Bio E 640 MATH 1 600 MATH 2 580
still waiting for ACT score.
i've only taking all of these tests once.

I am applying to Harvard EA so i wont be able to redo subject tests AND regular SAT so im probably just going to do Subject tests and ACT so i cn have the best of both worlds. just in case my scores don't improve too much is there anything amazing that i can do in 3 months that will make my application look great?

and also what ACT score would make up for my subject test scores?

p.s. when i say amazing i mean AMAZING. because i already have a summer internship and decent ec's and stuff but i feel like nothing that i have is too exceptional for admissions officers to look past.

Oh and i dont really mean just the essay or the reccommendation because regardless of how great those are, it can never be exceptional, even though I will work to make sure that they are great.

Well, are you URM? You should try for something like a 34 on the ACT, and you didn’t even mention your GPA (but honestly, even if they were perfect, scores of people with perfect grades get rejected every year), and ECs are “decent but nothing jaw dropping”, and 3 months isn’t really enough time for something amazing. You can write a great essay, but then most people have great essays as well. A better question is: Why Harvard? I mean no offense, but it seems to be a very high reach. I’m just wondering why you’re so bent on Harvard and the Ivies when America offers a selection of exceptional schools that are far less selective.

I’m in the same boat as you right now. After extensive research, I have decided to not apply EA to any Ivy, which gives the the chance to re-take the SATs and take the required subject tests. I’ll probably take the ACT as well just for the hell of it. Top schools are in a way harder to get into if you apply EA since the applicant pool is so much more self-selecting. Unless you get some big improvements, you’ll probably end up being deferred at best so I’d suggest making sure you have a stronger application before you apply. This is just my suggestion, any other opinions on this?

As more “something amazing” try and see if you can expand one of the EC’s you already have so that colleges don’t think you’re just getting involved as a resume padder.

GPA: 3.92/4.125 (i know i know it dropped because of my B in ap chem)
rank: 1/671
AP Scores: 5 on AP Gov, other 4 haven’t got scores back yet
(my school allows no ap’s as fresh and soph, 2 as junior, and 3 as senior, but i cheated the system as best as i could)
URM?: yep. african american.

why harvard?: financial aid and undergrad research oppurtunities

i’m working on my girl scouts gold award, will that help?

yeah and @dancetilldawn i think i may just not apply to any ivies early admissions because i would’ve liked to have my decision from at least one school by january, it just doesnt seem logical. and i just got into dartmouth bound so i feel like i would have a good shot at dartmouth but they only have ED.
