Memento of I-Day

Hey Boss,
What about the flags that our kids received 7 days after RDay? They might not be graduation flags but there were tears shed (from all accounts) when they returned to their rooms and folded them, reflecting on the mission of the CG. I think they'll have a nice selection of flags after graduation!
That one has a special space on most cadets personal shelf :-)

Since RDay this year is 3 JUL the general feeling is that their flags won't have the same meaning if they present them to swabs this summer (24 hours to reflect...most will just be dead tired)

All this has been really touching, but now what I need to know is what sort of momento of of I-Day do I get for a DI?

What a difference a year makes.

what is a DI?

A DI is a generous Midshipman or Cadet who has willingly given up time he or she might otherwise be doing something else to provide support and guidance to incoming plebes or plebe candidates or doolies or swabs. The DI is your friend.

What does DI stand for? Have never seen that used.

Drill Instructor

Oh, okay. So your question was what kind of gift to give a member of the cadre for basic training? Is that appropriate?

Tongue was firmly planted in cheek -- given that I-Day would have a whole different perspective this year for my son.

Ah, okay! Sorry! :-) Yes, there is definitely some relief to not facing an R Day or Beast (or equivalent) when summer comes. Then again, those things that were difficult one year usually find sufficient replacements in the following years.
