Meningitis Vaccines

Oh Jeez SoCcErTrAcK2016. Will not be sharing that info with my son. Thanks for the heads up. Vomiting too? I did not know about those kind of side effects. Just thought my boy would have a very sore arm.

@Asil65 Yes, I did throw up last night- my doctor said that one of the side effects was nausea, so I guess it’s not unheard of. The worst was last night though- I’m fine today except for the fever.

My sister got her first Men B shot yesterday too- she’s perfectly fine except for the sore arm. I guess my side effects aren’t common, but do happen to some.

Glad you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing SoCcerTracK2016. Your user name is hard to type. :open_mouth:

You should tell your doctor about your reaction so they can notify the vaccine manufacturer.

@romanigypsyeyes Do you need the HPV vaccine if you are not sexually active and don’t plan on being until you’re married?

@CaliCash since you cannot eliminate the possibility of sexual assault, HPV vaccine is recommended for the celibate as well.

HPV is a very good idea. One doesn’t know one’s sexual future with certainty, nor one’s future husband’s sexual past . . .

@bhmomma Wow, I wasn’t even thinking about that. Thanks! I always try to avoid needles when I can, but you’re right.

@CaliCash also if insurance covers it under your current plan it may be a wise financial move. Who knows what the future may bring for your health care coverage?

My son had is 1st HPV dose yesterday.

Yes, and HPV is a three shot series.

Sorry, I’m not getting tagged notifications for some reasons.

@calicash YES absolutely. You will never know the true sexual history of your partner. Plus there is always the chance of divorce or (unfortunately) the death of a spouse. Most people go on to have sexual partners after a spouse goes away (for whatever reason).

And yes, unfortunately sexual assault is also a possibility. Many of the people who come in to get STI/HIV testing are coming because they were sexually assaulted.

Ooops, another vaccine discussion.

I thought that it was demonstrated that meningitis vaccine works poorly on teenagers. Having “VACCINE” doesn’t mean that you are having a working vaccine. Yawn. Boring.

I mean, if you want to inject your teen with anything, as long as it is called “vaccine” - OK, fine, your choice.

<although i="" knew="" that="" two="" doses="" are="" needed,="" was="" surprised="" the="" pharmacy="" didn’t="" tell="" my="" daughter.="" called="" pharmacist="" next="" day,="" and="" he="" said="" “i=”" think="" it’s="" just="" one="" dose"="" then="" looked="" it="" up="" confirmed="" two.="" seems="" like="" continuing="" education="" for="" health="" care="" professionals="" hasn’t="" caught="" with="" availability="" of="" vaccine.="">

Continuing education of parents had not caught up the fact that the vaccine is barely working.

Yes indeed.

This thread has been ongoing for over a year. Guess vaccines keep things alive

If it’s been proven ineffective, why would the CDC recommend one vaccine for preteens and another for older teens/young adults? Do you have some links to legitimate sources to back up your claims or are they just your opinion?

Perhaps Californiaa confused the recommendations for the different vaccinations http://www.immunize.org/catg.d/p4210.pdf

This is a very useful thread for those interested in the meningitis vaccine, if anyone wants to start a debate on vaccines perhaps that should be its own thread?
