Mention AMC/AIME if taking as a senior?

Hi, I’m a senior applying to really selective schools and was wondering if I should tell them that I’m taking the AMC test.

My friend convinced me to take it, but now that I am registered, should I mention it on my applications? I mean, I’m taking it for the first time as a senior… I don’t know if that would even help me. I’m just concerned that if I tell them that I will be taking the AMC test, I would have to report my scores once they come out (even if they are bad). Is this true? Will the schools require me to submit my official scores once they come out (even though my applications would have been long submitted till then?)

As a senior, the only AMC eligible to you is the AMC 12. You need to score in the top 5% to be invited for AIME. If you tell your college you are going to take AMC/AIME, it shows your lack of knowledge in this area. Have you tried out last year’s AMC 12 test?

@PrimeNumber2 no, I have not tried out any AMC 12 test or any AMC test in general. This is the first year I’ve heard about it. Like I said, my friend highly encouraged me to take it.

I think the usual place for AMC/AIME/USAMO on an application would be the scores (not the announcment of taking it).

Your intention of taking it isn’t relevant or helpful to your application.
