Hey guys, I'm a junior now and I just recently took the AMC and was just thinking about the future. Besides the fun factor of these tests, do you think it's worth studying up for and taking it again Senior year? It's not like the colleges are going to be able to take it into account since the tests are after the date apps are due. Unless if you make it to MOPS or USAMO then maybe some colleges might "notice" something if anything at all. Welp, that's my 2 cents. What do you think?

Yes, they are worth it for college admissions if one is applying after the completion of senior year. Otherwise, it is only worth it to do so for a challenge to see how far one can get. For any other purposes it is not worth taking.

I think you should just be doing all these contests because you like math, and not to impress colleges.

hahah don't get me wrong. I LOVE MATH. Just, if you got somewhere that far, wouldn't you like to get at least some credit for it? Even if it is truly self satisfying, which in my opinion, it truly is. Just. Senior year though, I want to be able to take it and impress them, but I guess I really can't.. or can I?

I say go for it to put next year's juniors into the same situation you are in.

EDIT: To answer your question, no, you really can't unless you make USAMO or above.

you could send in a high AMC score, iguess

wait. You really think colleges can't factor that into your apps and what not if you make "USAMO or Above" during senior year? I mean... your apps technically "have" been sent already... right?

The AMC isn't too late, but the AIME is. I just sent my AMC score out.
