Is it worthwhile to use the "additional information" part of a college app to inform a school that the kid has listed it on the AROTC scholarship app?

What would be the drawbacks to doing so?

Could it be beneficial to admission chances?

 Thanks.

I canāt think of a single drawback, but I donāt know a lot about AROTC. What are your concerns?

doesnāt the college app ask if ur doing rotc?

Well, I just searched the common app and the term āROTCā didnāt return any results. So I donāt think it asks.

Iām not sure what Iām concerned about. I guess that maybe āadditional informationā is the wrong place to mention it. Or maybe that telling a school āI like you so much I want to ROTC youā looks desparateā¦especially for an applicant on the bubble. LOL. I dunno.

:: ROTC is so foreign to us we really donāt know what to do with it.

I think it shows them the love, especially for a kid on the bubble at a college protecting its yield. Has he contacted the ROTC office of the school?

Not yet, but he will. Weāre doing an informational meeting with a local school soon. Then heāll reach out to his #1 choice after he feels better informed.
