Mention ROTC?

Is it worthwhile to use the "additional information" part of a college app to inform a school that the kid has listed it on the AROTC scholarship app?

What would be the drawbacks to doing so?

Could it be beneficial to admission chances?

 Thanks.

I can’t think of a single drawback, but I don’t know a lot about AROTC. What are your concerns?

doesn’t the college app ask if ur doing rotc?

Well, I just searched the common app and the term ā€œROTCā€ didn’t return any results. So I don’t think it asks.

I’m not sure what I’m concerned about. I guess that maybe ā€œadditional informationā€ is the wrong place to mention it. Or maybe that telling a school ā€œI like you so much I want to ROTC youā€ looks desparate…especially for an applicant on the bubble. LOL. I dunno.

::blush:: ROTC is so foreign to us we really don’t know what to do with it.

I think it shows them the love, especially for a kid on the bubble at a college protecting its yield. Has he contacted the ROTC office of the school?

Not yet, but he will. We’re doing an informational meeting with a local school soon. Then he’ll reach out to his #1 choice after he feels better informed.
