<p>I want to write an essay on my favorite subject. I spent quite a bit of time on, and I'd to mention some of the books I read on my own about the subject. However, obvious not all the authors I'd like to mention are from the universities I am applying to (some are, some aren't). Would mention books not written by a university's own professors be frowned upon? I really don't want to offend anyone.</p>
<p>I should add that this would be my common app main essay</p>
