Will you still be evaluated for possible merit scholarships after you commit? Since merit is used as a method of trying to convince kids to come, I was wondering if committing before you hear means you definitely won’t get anything.
I do not know the answer to the question, but why would you commit now?
My D is still trying to decide between two schools so she isn’t quite ready to commit yet, but it would be nice to just be done with this process and move forward with scheduling orientation, signing up for housing, etc. If she know what she wants to do, why wouldn’t it make sense to commit? We just want to make sure it wouldn’t jeopardize merit.
Housing process and Pittstart scheduling doesn’t start until spring as far as I know.
Financial award letters come out in April. Tuition deposits are not refundable, if for some reason your D would have to attend another school you would lose the deposit.
I would waut a few more months, hopefully you will hear about merit by then.
According to HailtoPitt1787, merit notifications should be sent by March 1st. As far as I can tell, there’s no advantage for housing or PittStart registration by committing now - other than as you said, just being done with the process. I feel the same way at times!
