My son has applied to several UC’s and he would love to go to UCSD. Does anyone have any experience with this school and if they offer merit aid? Our EFC was almost $23,000.

Also, if he was to receive an outside scholarship, could that money go toward the EFC or is scholarship money only for the difference between COA and EFC? Thank you in advance.

I am assuming that you are a CA resident otherwise no need based aid at the UC’s.

UCSD is known to offer some merit scholarships.

UCSD applies scholarships first against unmet need, work study, and loans before reducing grants.
