UCSD financial aid

Hello everyone! So I got accepted to all the UCs I applied to, including LA, SB, SD, and Irvine. Of all the ones I applied to, I want to go to San Diego the most. I was the valedictorian of my class with a 4.7 GPA and a 1530 SAT score. Santa Barbara And Irvine both gave me the regents scholarship, and even though LA didn’t, they offered me another $10,000 scholarship. For each of these 3 schools, they are leaving me with about $10,000. I was very surprised to find that, besides my cal grant, UCSD didn’t offer me any scholarship, leaving me to pay $20,000 out of pocket. I’m a bit upset because SD was my dream school, but I can’t afford to pay that much. My parents’ combined income is about $85k. I don’t mean to sound entitled or anything, but I just expected more considering what the other schools are offering me. Is there any way I can dispute this financial aid package? Or have them look at my profile again? Thanks everyone for the help.

You can ask them for a review, but you are asking for a merit scholarship and those might be gone.

I’d start dreaming of SB.

San Diego doesn’t has as much “money” as some of the other campuses. Where would they get the money to fund you. The campus has added a number of construction projects which cost money. You may be stuck.

Are Cal Grants given for incomes of $85k?

Anyway… what is your FAFSA EFC?

Have you contacted UCSD and told them what UCLA offered? And what UCI and SB offered.

Why is SD your dream school? What’s your major and career goal?

If SD won’t offer you more, then why not go to UCLA???

I see that you’re premed. Maybe you should go where you can be a big fish. And certainly where you won’t take on debt.

Yeah, I’ve thought about it a lot this week, and I’m leaning more towards UCLA. I’m from Los Angeles, so I looked forward to a different area. Cal grant depends also on GPA, so that’s why they offered me what they did. I’m grateful for it too, as I don’t expect my parents to pay any of my tuition.
