Merit Aid Increase?

I have a 4.95 uw gpa and a 33 ACT, and I’m showing lots of demonstrated interest. Will I get more Merit $ with a 34 on the ACT instead of a 33? Is there some algorithm that they use to determine merit aid? I really love Tulane, but’s it’s basically free for me to go to my state school, so I need at least 30,000 in order to even consider spending money on Tulane. I don’t qualify for fininicial aid.

I think the big merit aid packages will come from applying for the separate scholarships by December 5th - the Deans’ Honor Scholarship or the Paul Tulane Award. These are very generous scholarships but will require extra work to apply. My daughter did something very creative but not super time consuming and received the DHS (unfortunately, she found that Tulane was not a great fit for her so she is not attending - but it sure was an amazing deal!) I’ve read that some that did not receive these scholarships did get a bump in their already awarded merit scholarships, however. So, it is worth doing. Not an expert but I would guess that going from a 33 to 34 might net a bit more scholarship $ but probably not enough to stress about. Is your UW gpa on a 5.0 scale? Not sure how merit packages worked out last year but with your stats you might be close to the $25K mark?

3.95 is out of a 4.0 scale. I will definitely apply for the larger scholarships, but it’s nice to assume I can get some significant merit aid. Thanks for your help.

I’m sure you will get merit aid because with a 31 act (and lots of demonstrated interest) I got $26,000 per year @helpporfavor
