Hey everybody I am going to be a senior next year and am interested in applying to Tulane. I am a male from a suburban town outside of Buffalo, New York. I was wondering if anybody could let me know what my chances of getting any merit aid would be.

ACT: 33
Class Rank: 7/250
Average: 97.5/100

I have a wide variety of ECs...Class President, Honor Society (National, Science, Spanish, and Business) and I am captain of both my club and varsity soccer team. I am unsure what I would major in but I am considering Finance or Biology. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help.

I agree. Good chance of $20-25k/year (based on last year’s postings). It may help if you apply early, and if you can, apply EA. (Some schools ED policies permit this and some don’t).

I would appreciate your opinion regarding my son’s ability to get merit aid at Tulane.

He got a 34 on his ACT. His SAT scores are 800 CR, 800 writing, 700 math.

His gpa is 3.6 unweighted, 4.2 weighted, but he is in the top 5% of his class (barely), and has gotten four 5’s on AP exams, and two 4’s. His extracurriculars are mediocre.

jym626 - The Tulane press release announcing the Weatherhead Foundation $50M pledge indicated that the first Weatherhead scholars would enroll by 2013 - I interpreted that to me the scholarship would not be offered for 2012, but it was ambiguous…

Parent 9 - I think that is correct, it was too close to the start of enrollment to get it set up properly I would think.

floridadad - Hard to predict what kind of offer he would get, but I would think a nice one for sure. Both ACT and SAT very strong, and obviously has taken a lot of honors and AP. Also top 5 or 6% very good. He will get some merit aid, but just have to see which offer.
