merit aid??

How generous is WPI in giving out merit aid?

Especially for decent stats white girl :)

I think they're pretty generous. I got close to 20k/year which was more than I expected. If you do have decent stats, I'm sure you will get a good amount of aid.

D got 16k, seems to be around the average for decent stats. WPI, however, is pretty expensive, as you know.

I'm white girl! I got close to 20,000 as well. I dunno what kind of stats you have, but I think they were generous, considering that I didn't even send them my best test scores.

My daughter last year got a full ride to WPI so they do give it out - however she went to Harvard instead.

how does the merit aid look for a decent stat int'l student?

DocT, did your D receive merit+need-based aid?
I didn't think WPI gave full rides. On their website, merit scholarships are listed and 25K seem to be the most they give. Costs are ~45K/year.

I got $10,400 merit per year. It might not be enough for me to go though. Maybe I'll get some of the needy based money too but I doubt it.

WPI has an extensive merit based scholarship program...About 20% of our undergrads get some sort of Merit based assisitance and the average award is in the range of 18000....a decent stats white girl shouldn't be an exception :)

Hi. Does WPI give multiple merit scholarships? like biochemistry + international students scholarship? I already got the 18k biochem scholarship, but it's far from enough for me to attend the school. thanks for the response.

WPI should lure in girls!

I was offered $61,400 for fours years at WPI ( i.e. approx $15,000/yr )

I'm an international student. I got $12500 a year plus an international scholarship of $2500 a year for a total of $15000 annually.

I m an international too. i got 26,500 a year, but no intl scholarship! Still, quite happy with the result.

I got $22,000 ( 18,000 presidential and 4000 international)

Did everyone get their merit offer in the acceptance letter, or was it sent separately?

mine was with the acceptance letter although it was dated later.

My son's admit letter is dated Dec 13, his merit letter is dated Dec 18. I can't remember if they came together or separately...

Good luck.

I didn't receive my merit aid information until my entire financial aid package arrived.

My daughter received a $14K per year merit scholarship, but we haven't received our full financial aid packet yet. I talked to FA last week, and they said that my CSS Profile, which I submitted on January 28, didn't get to them until March 15!!! On the plus side, the FA person I spoke to said there will be some need based aid in the financial aid packet. I hope it's enough to put WPI in range with all the other schools.
