Hi,
I applied for the Jewish Leadership Scholarship, and I am just wondering if this is also one of the scholarships that gets sent out tomorrow, or if I have to wait until march. Also, what will I receive if I don’t get the scholarship?
last year someone on the forum worked at the University (I believe) and was kind enough to tell us when the trucks were being loaded with the boxes. I am trying to recall if my D got hers the day after (which was Tuesday last year - or Wednesday). We live in SoCa.
It’s funny that the “Maintenance on Jan 21st” message is still on the portal. Maybe they were expecting to update the portal Sunday but delayed … to Friday now?
From admissions advisor “portal will updated by the end of the week.” He would not confirm when the boxes were going out. So, by the end of this week, step one will be complete.
Most all of SoCal gets it the next day after mailing. But some in San Diego, Irvine and other areas it was the second day when a lot of the country receives it. I am hoping we get a post tomorrow that they are being received. If not, Wed will be first day. But as has been experienced (talking to you @WWWard) mail can be unreliable in terms of delivery times.
Why wouldn’t San Diego get it the first day? We are like 2 hours away haha
Some even right in LA didn’t get it till the second day, no rhyme or reason, some in San Diego will, but I remember every year, some don’t get it that first day. Norcal is always the second day.
@CADREAMIN if you had to guess, when do you think Ohio would get boxes?
Here’s the USPS delivery map for priority mail. (These boxes go out Priority, right?) Zip code for USC is 90089.
3 day land here
@CADREAMIN do you have any information on the type of scholarships that are given out this week? I applied for the Jewish Leadership scholarship, and I am unsure if this is a scholarship that i will hear about this week or in march. Also, if I don’t get the scholarship, how will they notify me?
@stlouisphoenix The Jewish Leadership Scholarship, like many of the special interest group scholarships find out in March. They just closed applications to that one on Jan 15. This week is the school wide Trustee, Stamps, Morks, and Presidential invites and Dean Scholarships only. Some groups send a thank you for applying via email and let you know you did not get it. There is always a contact listed for that organization if you think you haven’t heard by end of March, you can contact them.
@CADREAMIN Really? because when i submitted the application it said that i would receive my notification by the beginning of february. I am so confused and just want all of this to be over with haha.
If they told you Feb 1st, I am confused why you are asking??? The JL Scholarship lists notification by April 1st, but maybe some get it with merit decisions? Haven’t heard of that, but they are in charge and I certainly don’t know everything! Hold on, the regular merit decisions will be arriving soon!
@ShrimpBurrito , it wouldn’t be Priority Mail, if they want to hide from Informed Delivery. Priority Mail by default will have a track number and immediately show up on Informed Delivery.
Can the separate leadership scholarships be combined with the bigger ones such as Presidential?
Guys I have a question. I applied to USC before december 1st however when I go the youSC website, under the section ‘status of your application’ it says “We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify freshmen by April 1st.” Is it normal??? Please can you check your portal, cause I’m stressed a lot.
^^^ Normal.
By Friday, it should update again… either offering something related to merit offerings (for only 3-4% of those who applied by Dec 1st) or a continuation unchanged without such (for the remaining 96-97% of those who applied by Dec 1st.)
No one is officially rejected this week. 800-1200 will receive welcome news… but 28K+ will still be waiting until late March.
Good luck to the 30K+ waiting this week… but try not to stress too much. 98% of all of the eventual 55K+ who apply do not learn their eventual fate until late March.
@ZEYNEPP My DD’s says “thank you for applying” at the top and then you can click on application status and I see a confirmation that the app was recieved. You should call the admissions office.
Oh okay, thank you so much…
