merit points??

My daughter was interested in this school after speaking to a visiting admiss rep came to her HS. Ater sleuthing on their site it appeared to me that perks ( first choice housing) etc goes to those with alot of merit points and it seems merit points are earned by attending lectures, guest speaker lectures, etc. Can anyone confirm this?? If this is so then I will cross Stonehill off our list. Thank you

It is also my understanding that Stonehill operates on a point system. I have seen a similar program at Marist College.

If I may ask, what do you object to?

IMHO forcing someone to attend a voluntary lecture so that they can earn merit points that entitle one to perks is childish...Reminds me of the way I was treated in catholic school then nursing school and that was in the 60's and 70's. College kids as young adults should be able to make their own decisions as to how much extra enrichment they desire or have time for.....not to have it forced upon themselves under penalty. Just my 2 cents

lol no no no you get completely the wrong idea. You can only get 5 merit points per year and just by being in a club or playing a sport u get 1. I go over with just clubs and sports...let alone activities and lectures (which I really don't go to). That should definitely not be a reason not to come. Wrong order of priorities there...

Thanks for the clarification of the merit points...i seems a little easier to digest......
