Hello, I'm just curious about the Merit Research Awards, awarded by the Viterbi Engineering school - I wasn't able to find much information online, so if you know anything about the program, please tell me anything you can about it, what kind of work students end up doing, general feelings about the program, etc.

Thanks in advance for any input!

I was told a day or two ago that they had just been mailed out. Look in your mailbox today and tomorrow. If you get one, it will probably be there.

reasonabledad - your private msg inbox is full. If you delete a few, I would like to send you some information.

lovetocamp ~ Done! Sorry about that.

I did get one, but i just wanted to know more about the program if anyone had any information or experience

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=55443 is the discussion that has the longest history, and you can find some info there. Also, I would appreciate it if we could continue to post on that thread, to keep all the info in one place.

My freshman academy professor this semester talked about a group of students that he had doing research for him about NASA's Stardust program. One of his research freshmen happened to be in my class and he made her once go up and tell us about how she and her research partners did their research and write up a report about it, which they later presented to JPL scientists that stopped by campus one time. That's just one of the possible assignments you could get with this award.

In fact, here's an article about their research that we had to read for class: http://viterbi.usc.edu/news/news/2006/news_20060117.htm
