What ranges does Fordham offer for merit scholarships? What are the grades, scores, ACT’s for these awards?
My D got $12k-$15k (I forget which) with 2120 SAT, 3.94 UW GPA (almost all of honors, AP classes … school does not weight), National Merit Finalist. Very strong ECs
If you look at the Fordham EA and EA likely letter threads, it looked like to get the rare full tuition offer, students needed near perfect scores, GPA and ECs to match.
I got a $40k/year at Fordham just based on merit, which I believe is pretty close to full tuition. I had a 3.92UW GPA and 2290 SAT score with lots and lots of EC’s and leadership positions.
I got $31k/yr based on merit and a $9k grant. 1420 CR/M, 4.0 weighted GPA, pretty good EC’s.
I thought Fordham had full tuition for National Merit Finalists?
My son was accepted EA for Fordham in December and received his financial aid letter in January. His FA was only $5K - which is a drop in the bucket. I spoke to someone in Fordham Financial Aid who told me that a revised letter will come out around April 1 that can potentially have a significant increase in aid. Has anyone heard this or actually gotten an updated Financial Aid package?. My son has a 4.0 WGPA, great ECs - many leadership roles, 27 ACT and 1930 SAT.
@suzyQ7 its competitive, not guaranteed. We confirmed that even before she didn’t get it.
@MidwestMomTo2 Have they already made offered to the winners or is that still outstanding?
@CP3rdTimeAround the $12k-$15k I mentioned was a new award that showed up in printed packet she got in mid- to late-Feb. My D was also EA and was admitted with no merit award at the time. She was underwhelmed both with no merit during EA and with small award later. She considered Fordham her top choice much of the fall. We shall see.
@MidwestMomTo2 - Thank you. It will be a fun!!! next two weeks. Waiting to hear on this, in addition to Villanova, Northeastern, and Bingamton.
@CP3rdTimeAround the $31 merit I mentioned came in an additional, updated package in Feb. I believe the offer that came with my acceptance in Dec was $15.
For reference, I got 37,500 in merit and grants, but I have appealed for more.
$21K/year merit award, 3.9 UW gpa, 32 ACT, 6 APs
@emsschulz How did you appeal? I want to as well but I’m not sure how to go about doing it.
@ParksAndWrecked I sent an email explaining my predicament to the Financial Aid office, and then like three weeks later they sent me a form to fill out online detailing my request amount, and reason for request.
@emsschulz Okay thank you!
@suzyQ7 my understanding is that they have already made the full tuition offers, however, like others on this thread, i have heard that they often increase merit awards in the spring (perhaps after some of the full-tuition offer students decline?)
