Merit Scholarships

Wow, I was all over every thread on this site last year and I never saw anything about an application. I had been hoping my D would get one of these scholarships, she fit some of the descriptions. Now there is a ‘click here to apply online link’ in the scholarship information.

As an FYI, UR gives additional merit scholarships to upperclassmen. Not sure how it works, but it seems there are a variety of endowed funds for kids who achieve in certain areas. The experience seems to be that the kid gets an email and money is listed in FAOnline. Surprise! And then you find out what it is for.

Hi,
I would just want to know when are the Rens. scholarship finalists notified ?? Does ED applicant know earlier , then priority review or are all the finalists are notified altogether ( if it is , then when is that ) ?

I think everyone is notified through the mail in January or February.

Okay, thanks. Can you tell me one thing. What about an ED applicant who needs a great amount of aid and thus has to know if he’s a finalist for the rens before he withdraws applications from other schools ?

Won’t it be a dilemma for such a student if he’s not ensured that his need could be met before he commits to enroll ?

Such a student should not apply ED.

Ren scholarship interview invitations do go out until very late Feb/early March. Interviews are in the latter half of March and winners aren’t notified until early April.

If you need the Ren to make UR affordable for you—you should not apply ED.
