I'm considering listing Merill as my top choice to do the Frosh honors thing. Is there anything distinguishing about the atmosphere there? Is it pretty diverse? Overly preppy? Etc.

How does it compare to my other top choices (Kresge, Crown, and Eight [in no particular order, yet])?

Just looking for the best overall fit. Thanks.

My friend who lived in merrill said it has a rep of being “sterile” merrill, but that it’s really just full of cool, calm people who mostly take academics seriously. It is on top of a hill surrounded by a more-than-usual amount of redwoods. It is also near the radio station, a pottery co op, a burrito place called Tacos Moreno, and it has a mural that every year students vote on a work to add on to it.
As for the rest, I heard eight is full of lots of preppy ucsb rejects, but has a nice suburban atmosphere.
