Messed up on my Application for the University of Washington

So I today I submitted my application to the UW, and afterwards I realized I had made some mistakes. First of all, on the section where I had to briefly explain my extra-curricular activities, I had missed the part that said that the suggested length was between 100 and 200 words. All of my explanations were around 50. In addition, on the same section, I had miss spelt the words "performed" and "forum".

This is the only section where I made such mistakes; both my personal statement and short anwer have been well proof-read and are within the suggested length.

So, have I ruined my chances off getting accepted into this school and is there any way for me to fix my application?

Remember that “suggested” is not the same thing as “required”. I am applying as well and I often have trouble meeting the word count because I feel I have said all I need to say. I don’t know if admissions would let you fix your application. But good luck.

Same thing happened to my son. Any help would be appreciated.

Honestly, email your admissions counselor (does UW have these?) or the admissions office. I forgot to add an extra curricular to my Gonzaga University app, and while I was really embarrassed, I emailed the admissions counselor and he added the EC to my application.

Best thing to do is email them. Be honest, and explain your situation. Just because they’re a top university doesn’t mean they’re not nice people. They’ve been really kind the last few emails I’ve exchanged with them.

50 or 200 words, I think they’ll still get a sense of who you are. I don’t think I filled the word count on all but maybe one.

@maddyg1958: I was on the UW site today and in the FAQ section, it said information that an applicant makes mistakes on can not be changed. sorry.
