I'm predicting I'll get a 3.2-3.4 mayyybeee a 3.5 but not more than that ( I'm taking 5 IB classes) I'm almost sure that I'll get a C in IB chemistry I want to retake it by correspondance is this a good idea? all of this makes me really upset because I had a 4.0 freshman and sophomore year. A lot of things happened in my life this year that really affected my grades. This is so stressinggg. My family is going to move to a different state and I know It will be hard to bring my grades up, but not impossible.

HELP!

I can’t help, sorry. My D is in this same boat. Changed schools in the middle of 10th year and same thing happened. Logistics and a lot of other things got in the way. She WAS Ivy qualified. I recently took out that one semester and her GPA increased .15. Which is a big gap from where she is, to where she’d need to be to still be in Ivy contention. At this point, you just have to hope that your dream school sees the situation, and understands a little bit. I know some take our your freshman year and recalculate GPA. That doesn’t help kids like you and my D, but it sure would be nice if they could see that YOUR transition was later on, and THAT was where you hit a stumbling block. But I don’t have my breath held. FYI, there is hope. My D was not able to get her overall GPA back to the place where it should be, but she is pulling down a 3.9 again (4.9 weighted) in her senior year. Hopefully that upward trend for both of you will show. My D wouldn’t address her situation in any of her essay questions. Because others had the same problem but were able to still get straight As. Good luck to ya! Remember to work on leadership postions…with all her work to get her grades back up, my D couldn’t participate in as much as she’d hoped to. And she’s finding, in interviews, that she doesn’t have enough in terms of leadership for elites either.
