OK, it's decision time. Our D is ready to make a decision and is in the process of conducting more thorough campus visits. There three choices are (poli sci and english dual major):

Miami University - Oxford: accepted into Academic Scholars Program with $22K p/yr scholarship (at least)
Indiana U: accepted into Hutton Honor College with at least $11K p/yr scholarship
UW - Madison: still waiting to hear on any scholarships and honor designation

So, can anyone with experience in these schools help weigh our choices? We are interested in hearing about program strength and experience of academic honors programs, but we are also very interested in hearing about school culture and internship experiences. Any feedback would be helpful!

Can you please tell me your stats? I am awaiting Miami financial aid and hoping for a similar oos package

ACT: 32/33, GPA: 4.1, solid AP load and scores, senior leadership, employed

Congratulations! All three are great schools. My DS is a senior accounting major at Miami and has enjoyed his time there. Back when he was applying to colleges, he also was accepted at Indiana and Wisconsin. For him, the size of Miami was just right. He also liked and fit in with the more preppy atmosphere. Also, the day we visited Madison, the weather was brutal, so the slightly warmer climate was appreciated - it also didn’t hurt that Miami offered him the largest scholarship! Fast forward almost four years, he has been accepted to graduate programs at Notre Dame, Michigan and Indiana. If you do well at Miami, or any of these schools, you will have opportunities.

FYI - while things might have changed in the past four years, Wisconsin did not tend to offer merit scholarships - especially for OOS students - except for a few “Einstein’s”. YMMV.
