I wonder if this administration will do anything to significantly lower college costs

They are trying … and everything they discuss will cost colleges money to implement and the government money to regulate. Not the best use of scarce funding, IMHO.

Couldn’t agree more

Can’t believe Michelle Obama thinks that filling out financial aid forms is “simple.” It is great though that she’s calling attention to this important issue however

What exactly could this administration, or any administration, do to lower college costs? Nothing. We can thank the Feds for pumping so much taxpayer-funded financing into the system over the last 20 years that it has led to the enormous increase in tuition, a burden mostly borne by middle class income earners who earn too much to get too excited about filling out those forms touted by the First Lady because they don’t qualify for free, taxpayer-funded subsidies, and have been willing to take out loans to pay for their kids’ education. Now, though, their jobs are disappearing, and they are in debt up to their eyeballs, and their kids are graduating and not finding jobs. And too many of the students are able to get federally-backed loans to pursue worthless degrees. The taxpayers are losing out on so many fronts.

How about focus on an appropriate effort, like tax incentives to industry to create jobs here in the US? How about getting out of our way and reducing the ridiculous regulations that interfere with the economy? Stop telling people to sign this or that so they can “get theirs”, especially when many aren’t paying much into the system at all and so what they think is “theirs” is really someone else’s.

Chesterton for President…Bravo!
